Cristian Miguel Riveros Núñez (born October 16, 1982 in Juan Augusto Saldívar ) is a Paraguayan football player . He completed 99 international matches and took part in two soccer world championships with the Paraguayan national team.

Career

Club career

Riveros played their way up in the Paraguayan leagues. Via his home club Colón de JA Saldivar and Tacuary FC from the capital Asunción , he joined the first division club Sportivo San Lorenzo in 2002 . From 2003 he played three more years with the meanwhile first-class Tacuary FC and then another three years with Club Libertad Asunción , with which he became Paraguayan champion in 2006. From mid-2007 the defensive midfielder played at the top Mexican club CD Cruz Azul . In 2009 and 2010 he and his club reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions League , which was lost. In May 2010 the English club AFC Sunderland announced the signing of Riveros. For the 2011/12 season he moved to Turkey for the Süper Lig club Kayserispor . With the Turks he came in the course of his club membership to 67 appearances in the league, in which he scored three goals. Four cup matches (one goal) are also held with his participation. In June 2013, the Brazilian club Gremio Porto Alegre announced their commitment for the next two seasons. Riveros has been back in Paraguay since 2015, where he has since played for the three capital city clubs Olimpia , Libertad and Nacional . With Olimpia he became Paraguayan champion for the second time in 2015.

National team career

In May 2005 he had his first appearance in the Paraguayan national team . In the course of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, he finally played his way into the team and was part of the tribe in the last decisive games in which participation was achieved. In Paraguay's World Cup squad , he was then used in Germany in two of Paraguay's three games. Also in Paraguay's best performance at a World Cup in 2010, he was again in the Paraguayan squad and scored the second goal in a 2-0 win in the group game against Slovakia. Riveros also took part in the Copa America in 2007 and 2011 , with Paraguay moving into the final against the winners Uruguay in 2011. After that it was used less often. He played his last international match in 2018. He wore the Paraguay jersey 99 times and scored 15 goals. This makes him one of the most successful goal scorers in his country.
