In the beginning he was also used in his farm team Pachuca Júnior , which is located in the third division , but made it early on to the first team with which he won the Mexican football championship in the Clausura 2007 . By the summer of 2011, he completed a total of 86 first division appearances for the Tuzos before moving to the second division León . At the end of his first season with the Panzas Verdes , he won the second division championship with León and, after ten years of abstinence, made the long-awaited return of the traditional club to the football club.

On the way to the first title win in the Apertura 2013, Montes was used in all games of the Liguillas and scored in the quarter-final first leg at Monarcas Morelia (3: 3) the 1-0 opening goal in the 15th minute. He also scored a particularly important goal in the quarter-finals of the Clausura 2014 against Cruz Azul , when he scored the 2-2 final score in the 58th minute of the second leg, which only allowed León to advance and thus later to defend his title. Montes also scored the winning goal to make it 1-0 in the semi-final first leg against Deportivo Toluca .
