CONCACAF Champions' Cup 1962

The CONCACAF Champions' Cup 1962 was the first official football competition for club teams in the CONCACAF region. The Mexican club Deportivo Guadalajara won the tournament with four wins in four games without accepting a single goal. After a safe overall win of 5: 0 (first leg 2: 0, second leg 3: 0) against the Costa Rican representative CS Herediano in the first round, the finals against the Guatemalan representative CSD Comunicaciones were also won with an overall result of 6: 0 . In the first leg of the final, Javier Valdivia made it 1-0 with his goal in the 43rd minute. In the second leg, the most successful goalscorer in Guadalajara's club history, Salvador Reyes , contributed three goals to the 5-0 victory. The other two goals scored the defender Juan Jasso , who - like Reyes - was seven times Mexican champion with Guadalajara between 1957 and 1965 .

Quarter finals

The quarter-finals were played separately after the six teams coming from the mainland and the two teams from the Caribbean , so that there were no points of contact between the clubs from the mainland and the islanders in the first round.

Intermediate round

Although four teams were able to prevail, no semi-finals were played between the four winners of the first round encounters. Instead, the two qualified representatives from the Central American mainland had to compete against each other in order to first determine a Central American winner, who was then allowed to compete in the semifinals with the winner from the Caribbean for the final.

The semi-finals were played between the winners from Central America and the Caribbean, while the Mexican representative CD Guadalajara had already qualified for the finals by winning the first round.
