Integrated Device Technology (IDT for short) was founded in 1980 as a semiconductor manufacturer. The company is headquartered in San José , California , with production in Hillsboro , Oregon . With around 1,500 employees worldwide, IDT develops and manufactures semiconductors and is active in two business areas: communication and high-speed logic (e.g. FIFOs ) and SRAM . In September 2018, Renesas announced its intention to acquire IDT for $ 6.7 billion.

IDT used to manufacture MIPS processors developed by QED . From 1995 to 1999 IDT also had its own x86 processor family called WinChip , which was developed by its subsidiary Centaur Technology . In September 1999 Centaur Technology was sold to VIA Technologies .

The IDT R4700

One of the company's specialties is network processing equipment, especially packet filtering for firewalls .

Another well-known product is IDT's implementation of the Advanced Memory Buffer (AMB), an important part of Fully Buffered DIMM memory technology.
