PanAmSat 4 also called PAS 4 is a television satellite of the satellite operator PanAmSat . It was launched into space aboard an Ariane 4 rocket in 1995 and has an expected lifespan of around 15 years.

In 2000, it became known that one of the satellite's two main computers had failed. In the meantime, PanAmSat 4 has been resold to Intelsat and is now referred to as Intelsat 4, whereby it continues to operate with the backup control computer.

According to the operator, the satellite finally failed on February 1, 2010 at around 1:28 am CET.

reception

The satellite can be received in Europe , Africa , Asia , India and the Middle East . The transmission takes place in the C- and Ku-band with the help of a 7 m antenna.
