The International Association for the Study of Insurance Economics , better known as The Geneva Association , is a non-profit organization engaged in research in the insurance field. It represents the CEOs of insurance companies . The organization is headquartered in Geneva .

There are representative offices from 22 countries. Fourteen countries are represented in Europe, four in America, three in Asia and one in Oceania. According to the organization's statutes, a maximum of 80 board members may be represented. The President of the Geneva Association has the right to nominate new members, who are first reviewed by the Board and then voted on in the annual General Assembly.

In addition to the annual meeting, the association organizes other events such as congresses, discussions and other gatherings. The organization also publishes articles on risk management and insurance as the publisher of its own journals. The best known journals are The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance - Issues and Practice and The Geneva Risk and Insurance Review .

On September 22, 1971, a committee of five boards from European insurance companies met for the first time in Paris to discuss the establishment of an organization dedicated to research in the risk management and insurance sector. Here represented Emil Frey the Mannheimer Versicherung , George Martin , the Royale Belge , Ernst Meyer , the Alliance , Fabio Padoa the Assicurazioni Generali and Bernard Pagezy took for La Paternelle part in the meeting.

On February 27, 1973, the founding meeting of the International Association for the Study of Insurance Economics took place in the Paris branch of La Paternelle . In the following years, various programs were set up to determine priorities in research.
