Nikolaus von Bomhard (born July 28, 1956 in Gunzenhausen ) is a German manager and was Chairman of the Board of Management of Munich Re (Munich Reinsurance Company in Munich) until 2017 .

Career

Bomhard first attended the Maximiliansgymnasium in Munich. In 1985, after completing his studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, he completed his doctorate in law at the University of Regensburg and then began as a trainee at the Munich Reinsurance Company, where he has been employed ever since. In the meantime, he was head of department and Brazil representative within the group . In this role, he built up the local Munich Re branch in São Paulo within three years. He has been a member of the board since 2000, most recently responsible for the Latin America region and large parts of Europe.

For the year 2008, Bomhard received a salary of 4.18 million euros.

On April 25, 2018, he was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG .

Awards

In 2007, he was jointly voted eco-manager of the year by WWF Germany and the magazine Capital .

Private

Von Bomhard is married and has two children. He is a member of the Catholic student union KStV Rheno-Bavaria Munich in the KV .
