Hans-Jürgen Schinzler

Hans-Jürgen Schinzler (born October 12, 1940 in Madrid ) is a German manager and former chairman of the board of directors and chairman of the supervisory board of Munich Reinsurance Company . Since January 1, 2013 he has been Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Munich Re.

Life

Hans-Jürgen Schinzler grew up in Munich , where he began studying law after graduating from high school , which he completed with a doctorate at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . The topic of his dissertation was "The tasks and responsibilities of the federal government in the field of development aid" .

From 1968 to 1969 he completed a bank apprenticeship at the Bayerische Vereinsbank . He then began his professional career at Munich Reinsurance Company , where he held managerial positions in the area of ​​investments and real estate. In 1981 he was appointed to the Board of Management of Munich Re, responsible for finance and credit insurance. From 1993 to 2003 he headed the company as CEO .

Hans-Jürgen Schinzler is married to Monika Schinzler (née Somya) and has three children. He is a member of the Corps Vitruvia Munich.
