Thomas Blunck

Thomas Blunck (* 1965 in Santiago de Chile ) is a member of the Board of Management of Munich Reinsurance Company, where he is responsible for Life and Health, Capital Partners and Digital Partners.

Life and professional history

Due to his father's work abroad, Blunck grew up in Chile , Spain , the Dominican Republic and Venezuela .

He studied business administration at the universities in Barcelona . He did his doctorate on internal consulting services in large companies at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) and worked there as an assistant during his doctoral studies .

Blunck began his professional career in 1993 as a junior consultant at Roland Berger & Partner and took on leading positions at Bosch and Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH (BSH) in Munich .

Blunck has been working for Munich Reinsurance Company since 1999 and when he joined, he took over the management of strategy and economics in the central area of ​​corporate planning for two years. In 2002 he started as a department head in the Europe and Latin America department .

In 2005, Blunck became a member of the Board of Management of Munich Reinsurance Company and, until 2017, head of the Special and Financial Risks division .

Since 2008 he has also been responsible for the IT department and was responsible for Central Procurement from 2008 to 2013 . Blunck has also been responsible for Reinsurance Investments since 2008 and for Life and Health, Capital Partners and Digital Partners since 2017.

Thomas Blunck is married and has three children.
