Reinhard Drechsler

Reinhard Drechsler (born May 13, 1948 ) is a former German racing cyclist who was active in the GDR .

Athletic career

He began his cycling career in 1965 when he became a member of SG Dynamo Karl-Marx-Stadt . He later moved to SC Dynamo Berlin . In 1967 he received his first appointment to the national team of the GDR for the tour of Romania , which he finished in 16th place. This was followed by a stage victory in the Hungarian Mescek Cup and third place in the GDR championship in the team time trial (he was runner -up in 1969). In 1968 he was 21st in the GDR tour . In 1969 he was able to win a stage in the Tour of Algeria , which he finished in fifth place in the overall ranking (in 1971 he finished the tour in 15th place). In 1970 the Tour of Poland finished in eighth place.

Professional

Drechsler completed an apprenticeship as a diesel locomotive fitter.
