Alois Alzheimer (Manager)
Alois Alzheimer (born August 30, 1901 in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz , † August 7, 1987 in Munich ) was a German insurance manager.
Live and act
Alois Alzheimer studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where he received his doctorate in law in 1924 with the text “The appointment to murder according to § 49 b R.St.GB ” .
On November 8 and 9, 1923, Alzheimer took part in the Hitler putsch as a member of the Oberland Freikorps . In January 1925, Alzheimer's and Friedrich Weber , Eugen Meyding and Adolf Aechter (1864–1934), who had meanwhile been released from Landsberg , were indicted before the Munich jury court for continuing banned associations. Meyding, Alzheimer and Aechter were charged with having continued the banned Oberland Freikorps through the Schützen- und Wanderbund. However, according to the court's decision, this could not be proven, which is why the defendants were acquitted.
From 1927 to 1928 he was a court assessor and third public prosecutor in the Bavarian Ministry of Justice in Munich. In 1929 he was a magistrate in Bad Reichenhall .
In the same year he joined Munich Re . In 1933 he was appointed deputy and in 1936 full board member . He had been a member of the NSDAP since May 1933 . In 1945 he was arrested, denazified and suspended from office. From 1948 he was employed again at Münchner Rück and as a member of the supervisory board at Allianz . From 1950 to 1968 he was Chairman of the Board of Management and General Director of Munich Re. Under his leadership, the company rose to become the world market leader; his successor was Horst K. Jannott . From 1954 Alzheimer was deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Allianz. From 1969 to 1976 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Munich Re; he was replaced by Jürgen Ponto .
Alzheimer's was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.
