The International Society for Ecological Economics (ISEE) is an international scientific association for the promotion of ecological economics . It was founded in 1989 and publishes the journal Ecological Economics .

In chronological order, the post of President was filled by Robert Costanza , Richard Norgaard, John Proops, Charles Perrings, Joan Martínez-Alier, Peter May and John Gowdy. Herman Daly received an honorary award from the Right Livelihood Award for expanding economics to include aspects of ecology and ethics and for co-founding ISEE .

Conferences are organized by ISEE every two years. In 2010 it took place under the direction of Bernd Siebenhüner with the title “Advancing Sustainability in a Time of Crises” at the Universities of Oldenburg and Bremen .

ISEE is the parent company for numerous regional companies for ecological economics. These are:

  • African Society for Ecological Economics (ASEE) for Africa
  • Asociación Argentino Uruguaya de Economía Ecologica (ASAUEE) for Argentina and Uruguay
  • Australia-New Zealand Society for Ecological Economics (ANZSEE) for Australia and New Zealand
  • Brazilian Society for Ecological Economics (ECOECO BRAZIL) for Brazil
  • Canadian Society for Ecological Economics (CANSEE) for Canada
  • European Society for Ecological Economics (ESEE) for Europe
  • Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE) for India
  • Mesoamerican Society for Ecological Economics (SMEE) for Central America
  • Russian Society for Ecological Economics (RSEE) for Russia
  • United States Society for Ecological Economics (USSEE) for the United States

In Germany , the Association for Ecological Economic Research and the Association for Ecological Economy are associated with the ISEE.
