The Association for Ecological Economic Research (VÖW) is a German scientific association that advocates ecological principles in the global economy .

History and background

The Association for Ecological Economic Research was founded in May 1985 by Reinhard Pfriem with numerous colleagues. The inter- and transdisciplinary network deals with issues of sustainable development .

Work and collaborations

The VÖW organizes the internal exchange in working groups as well as annual working conferences. It publishes its own publications and the specialist journal “ Ökologisches Wirtschaften ”, published jointly with the Institute for Ecological Economic Research (IÖW) and published by oekom Verlag .

In addition to the chairmen Bernd Siebenhüner and Alexandra Palzkill, the former president of the Wuppertal Institute Uwe Schneidewind and the scientific director of the IÖW Thomas Korbun sit on the board of the VÖW .

There is a close substantive connection to the Association for Ecological Economics (VÖÖ) and the International Society for Ecological Economics (ISEE), with which joint conferences have already been organized.
