The International Association for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning (IFHP) ( English International Federation for Housing and Planning (IFHP) ) is a global network of experts in the field of housing , urban development and regional planning . The organization holds a number of events, such as an annual congress, to facilitate international knowledge transfer. Besides German , English and French are the official languages.

history

The IVWSR was founded in 1913 by Ebenezer Howard . Howard is the founding father of the garden city idea , a combination of housing and planning concepts as a response to urban problems. Howard had previously founded the British Town and Country Planning Association in 1899. The establishment of an internationally oriented organization represents a further development in the course of the professionalization of the planning discipline.

The focus has expanded since then. The core work is international exchange as a source of information and inspiration.
