Bad Liebenwerda puppet theater collection

The Elbe-Elster-Land is considered to be the cradle of the Saxon traveling puppet theater . For this reason, since 1998 a permanent exhibition in the Bad Liebenwerda district museum has been dealing with the history of the puppet theater in the Elbe-Elster area under the title From the shoemaker's awl to the marionette twine . In order to convey the topic of "puppet theater" to the visitors in a lively way, the idea of setting up an international puppet theater festival was born and puppeteers were invited to travel across the entire district to perform plays for both children and adults in the localities to lead. In addition to Germany , the puppeteers come from other countries such as Belgium , Denmark , Switzerland and Lebanon . The puppet theater festival opens every year in the Finsterwalder district museum. Other fixed items on the program are “The Long Night of Puppetry” in Bad Liebenwerda and the “Varieté dance evening” in Reichenhain .
