The Internet Messaging Program (short: IMP ) is an open-source - Webmailer for the Horde Framework on PHP basis.

IMP was originally a stand-alone program. However, since many suggestions for improvement and expansion requests from the user base could no longer be thematically assigned to the area of webmail, there was a separation into the Horde framework and the IMP module based on it. Since then, an operational installation of Horde has been necessary for the operation of IMP.

IMP can access other Horde modules via the Horde API . For example, IMP can use the Turba module as an address book or save notes from emails in Mnemo (Horde's virtual notebook).

In newer versions, IMP relies heavily on JavaScript and dynamic HTML . The traditional view is still available for older browsers in order to avoid potential difficulties caused by modern techniques.
