Io Perry

Io Perry (* 20th century in Toronto ) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and bassist who musically moves in the genre of pop indie rock .

Io Perry was born as the daughter of an unmarried hippie couple. She came to New York via Montreal and settled in Los Angeles in 1996 , where she lives in the musicians and artists' district of Silver Lake . Her early musical influences were The Cure , Nirvana , Meat Puppets and the Pixies .

The musical role model for Io Perry was the bassist of the Pixies Kim Deal . She was one of the reasons for Perry to become a musician and play this instrument. Perry has worked as a bassist in various bands such as Old Hickory , Project K and The Green and Yellow TV . Most recently she played with Tito & Tarantula and made several European tours with the band. In 2005 she started a solo career as a singer-songwriter and appeared on the European tour of Tito & Tarantula as an opener . In 2005 her debut album Greybay was released , which her former bandmate Tito Larriva produced. Perry appears as a solo artist with guitar or in a duet , but also with a 4-piece band in which she plays the bass.
