Ioan Alecu (born March 30, 1944 in Ploieşti ; † June 8, 2011 ) was a Romanian football player .
Athletic career
Alecu was discovered in 1965 by Nicolae Proca , who brought him to Steagul Roșu Brașov . There the defender , who played over 100 games for the club, played, among other things, at international level in the Messestädte-Pokal 1965/66 , in which the team only failed in a playoff against Espanyol Barcelona . In 1970 he switched to Politehnica Iași due to his studies , but later returned to Brașov. Due to an injury, however, he had to end his career and later worked as a child and youth coach.
