ioo Elwardt + Lattermann Society of Architects
ioo Elwardt + Lattermann Gesellschaft von Architekten mbH is a pan-European architecture office based in Berlin . One focus of ioo's projects is residential construction in the greater Berlin area, e.g. B. the conversion of unused commercial units into living space . Another field of activity is the renovation of listed buildings and landmarks, e.g. B. the malt factory Schöneberg .
history
The architectural office was originally founded in 1998 as Elwardt & Lattermann Architekten in Berlin. In 2014, the founders, architects Klaus Lattermann and Barbara Elwardt renamed the office to define a working method in ioo , as an abbreviation for the terms “input”, “output” and “outcome”. Supported by project controlling, the interdisciplinary team consists primarily of architects and a few engineers.
Works (selection)
A major field of activity for ioo is the construction of affordable rental apartments in Berlin and the surrounding area for private investors and institutional housing associations such as Howoge or Gewobag . Examples of this are the Dolgenseecenter with approx. 680 residential units and retail space or the renovation of a residential and commercial complex on Schöneberger Ufer , The View, completed in 2014 . Further new construction projects of the ioo office are X-Park Lindenstrasse or the construction of city villas on the grounds of the sugar goods factory in Berlin-Lichtenberg. The renovation and renovation work of the Josty'schen Brewery as well as the current industrial monument Malzfabrik , the former malt house of the former brewery company Schultheiss Brauerei AG and a palazzo in Venice , in which the Hotel Gabrielli Sandwirth is located, date from the early years of the office .
Awards
In 2007 the office received the main prize in the competition Das Goldene Haus for an energy-optimized single-family project in Mölln . For their participation in the renovation of the Malzfabrik Schöneberg project , the architects u. a. 2011 the Berlin Environment Prize and the Berlin Monument Preservation Prize .
