Ipet-em-pet , also Opet-em-pet ("Ipet in the sky") represented the "hippopotamus goddess" Ipet as the constellation " Hippopotamus with the crocodile on her back " and Ipet-weret , Nut , Reret , Reret- weret , Tefnut and Isis . of the decorations on the ceilings of the royal tombs of the New Kingdom .

In Esna she is mentioned in texts as the patroness of the constellation “ Great Bear (Seth) ” and enters into a symbiosis with him in her function as the hippo goddess: “The great bear ( Msḫtyw ) is under her supervision, without her arm from him solves forever. "
In the text Esna 400 , Ipet-em-pet is explicitly invoked as "Isis of heaven": "Isis as the hippopotamus is the one who ties the bull's thigh (Seth) in the northern sky in order not to allow it to sink into the duat ."
