Ipomoea digitata is a plant type from the genus of Morningglory ( Ipomoea ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae).

description

Ipomoea digitata is a hairless or only sparsely hairy liana . At least half of the leaves are palm-like divided into three to seven lobes, the outline of the leaf is more or less heart-shaped or cut off. The leaf lobes are ovate to elongated-lanceolate, with entire margins and indistinctly pointed, the middle one is about 5 to 8 cm long and 1 to 2.5 cm wide.

The inflorescence stalks are usually about as long as the leaves. The inflorescences are dichotomously branched, the coagulated flower stalks are significantly shorter than the inflorescence stalks. The buds are spherical, usually hairy and significantly shorter than the flower stalks. The sepals are about 1 cm long, rounded or circular, leathery and enclose the corolla tube . The crown is funnel-shaped, purple in color and 4 to 6 cm long. The ovary is bicameral.

The fruits contain four seeds that are hairy with long trichomes .

The species occurs only on Hispaniola .

Systematics

Within the genus of morning glories ( Ipomoea ), the species is classified in the series Eriospermum of the section Eriospermum in the subgenus of the same name Eriospermum .
