Irena Mikócziová

Irena Mikócziová , b. Bosá (born January 19, 1945 in Vinohrady nad Váhom ) is a table tennis player from Czechoslovakia . She won silver in doubles at the 1966 European Championships .

Career

Her parents managed the stadium of TJ Dynamo Spoje Bratislava in Petržalka , where Irena Bosá learned to play table tennis as a child. In 1955 she became a member of Dynamo Spoje, where she trained with R. Hrčka and J. Soják until 1961. From 1957 to 1961 Bosá played actively for Dynamo Spoje Bratislava. During this time, she won the Czechoslovak junior championship four times in singles, and she won further national junior championships in mixed and doubles. At the World Festival of Youth and Students in 1959 she was the individual winner. Between 1961 and 1967 she took part in the national game operation for Lokomotíva Rača and from 1972 to 1977 for the club, which has since been renamed Lokomotíva Bratislava. Most recently she played as an active member of the DAC Dunajská Streda team from 1979, and in 1989 she ended her active career there.

Irena Bosá achieved her first international successes at the European Youth Championships. In 1961 she won the doubles title in Bad Blankenburg and, together with Viliam Polakovič, also in mixed, with the team she won bronze. A year later she was again Junior European Champion in mixed, this time with Rotislav Stepanek, and also in doubles with Marta Lužová (now Hejma).

In 1963 and 1965 she took part in the World Championships for adults. She came in ninth and seventh with the team. She started at the European Championships in 1964 , 1966 and 1968 , where she won the bronze medal with the team. At the European Championships in 1966 she reached the final with her partner Marta Lužová , which was lost against Hungarians Éva Kóczián / Erzsébet Jurik .

In 1966 Irena Mikócziová won the national championship in singles. There are also three title wins in doubles with Marta Lužová (1963, 1964, 1966) and in 1963 in mixed with Velim Mikom. After 1968 Irena Mikócziová no longer appeared internationally. She is a member of the Swaythling Club International , the international association of former table tennis masters.
