geography
The municipality is located in the Slovakian Danube lowlands , more precisely in the Danube hill country , on the left bank of the Waag . The vineyards, which are exposed to the southwest, are characteristic of the landscape and gave the municipality its name (Vinohrady nad Váhom means "vineyards on the Waag"). The center is five kilometers from Sereď and 20 kilometers from Hlohovec .
history
The present municipality was established in 1958 after it was separated from the municipality of Šintava ; previously the area was part of it with the name Šintavské Vinohrady . The oldest part of the community was mentioned in writing as Rauzt in the Zobor documents in 1113 ; later the named place developed into an area called Svätá Chrasť . The further history up to 1958 is closely connected with the history of Šintava.
