Košúty (until 1927 Slovak "Zemanské Košúty"; Hungarian Nemeskosút - until 1907 Košút ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,765 (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Galanta , part of kraj Trnavský belongs.
geography
The community is located in the Slovakian Danube lowlands on a floodplain of the Dudváh . The municipal area is flat and covered by wetland or black soils. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 120 m nm and is five kilometers from Sládkovičovo and six kilometers from Galanta .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1138 as Willa Qusout and belonged to the local nobles. In 1828 there were 71 houses and 513 inhabitants.
Until 1918, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was again in Hungary from 1938 to 1945.

According to the 2011 census, Košúty had 1,556 inhabitants, including 739 Magyars, 712 Slovaks, eight Czechs and one Bulgarian, one German and one Roma; eight residents were of a different ethnic group. 86 residents did not provide any information. 1121 residents belonged to the Roman Catholic Church, 47 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 17 residents to the Evangelical Church, 15 residents to the Reformed Church, eight residents to the Apostolic Church, five residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church, four residents to the Greek Catholic Church, three residents for the Mormons and one resident each for the Baha'i and the Jewish community; eleven residents were of other denominations. 178 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 145 inhabitants has not been determined.
