Dolný Chotár (Hungarian Alsóhatár ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 378 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Galanta , part of kraj Trnavský belongs.

geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowlands on the Stará Čierna voda river ; the municipality covers the last kilometers of the river before it flows into the Little Danube . The place has Au soil near the rivers, otherwise black soils. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 110  m nm and is 25 kilometers from Galanta .

Neighboring communities are Kráľov Brod in the north, Vlčany and briefly Neded in the east, Kolárovo in the south-east, Topoľníky in the south-west and Trstice in the west.

history

The municipality of Dolný Chotár is relatively new, as it was not formed until 1960 when it split off from Dolné Saliby and is historically related to this place. The name (literally "lower limit") refers to the previous location (15 kilometers from the main town). In 1984 the place was incorporated into the municipality of Kráľov Brod , but has been independent again since 1991.

population

According to the 2011 census, there were 403 inhabitants in Dolný Chotár, 185 of them Magyars and 137 Slovaks. 81 residents gave no answer. 167 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 54 residents the Evangelical Church AB, five residents the Greek Catholic Church, two residents the Reformed Church and one resident each of the Baptists, the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Czechoslovak Hussite Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 73 residents had no denomination and 98 residents had no denomination.
