Jánovce (until 1993 Slovak "Janovce" - to 1927 "Jánošovce"; Hungarian Jánosháza or Dunajánosháza ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 498 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Galanta of, part kraj Trnavský heard .
geography
The municipality is located in the Slovakian Danube lowlands on the stretch of land between the Čierna voda north and the Little Danube south of the village. The municipality is flat, covered by floodplain and black soils and is therefore used intensively for agriculture; Remains of the original alluvial forest can be found along the small Ereč stream . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 120 m nm and is 13 kilometers from Senec , 18 kilometers from Galanta and 37 kilometers from the capital Bratislava .
Neighboring municipalities are Pusté Úľany in the north, Veľké Úľany in the east, Jelka in the south and Kráľová pri Senci in the west.
history
In the late Middle Ages, today's municipal area was part of the estate of the Ofener, later the Pressburg Poor Clares. In the 16th century the noble family Pálffy acquired the land and in the 17th century built a farm, which was popularly called Jánosház . The settlement of subject families from surrounding villages finally resulted in the establishment of an independent community in 1792, which was named after the owner, Johann Pálffy the Younger. In 1808 the name Jánosháza vel Apácza-körmösd is passed down. In 1828 there were 19 houses and 136 inhabitants.
Until 1918, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was once again in Hungary from 1938-45.

According to the 2011 census, there were 462 residents in Jánovce, including 344 Slovaks, 107 Magyars, two Roma and two Czechs, and one German and one Ukrainian. Two residents indicated a different ethnic group and 41 residents gave no information. 309 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 35 residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Evangelical Methodist Church, the Greek Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church and the Reformed Church; two residents professed a different denomination. 72 residents had no denomination and 39 residents had no denomination.
