Zemianske Sady (until 1948 Slovak "Zemianska Kert" - to 1927 "Nemeš Kert" or "Nemeš Kurt", Hungarian Nemeskürt - until 1877 Nemeskürth ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 866 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the Okres Galanta , part of the Trnavský kraj , belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the Slovakian Danube lowlands on the southwestern edge of its part Nitrianska pahorkatina ( Neutra hill country ). Within this region it lies in the gentle valley of the Jarčie stream . The center of the village is at an altitude of 150 m nm and is 14 kilometers from Hlohovec , 15 kilometers from Sereď and 23 kilometers from Galanta .
Neighboring municipalities are Šalgočka in the north, Sasinkovo in the northeast, Rumanová in the east, Pusté Sady in the south, Vinohrady nad Váhom in the west and Dvorníky in the northwest.
history
In the municipality there are remains of a Bronze Age settlement, as well as archaeological finds from the Hallstatt, Latène and Roman times.
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1156 as Kurt and was then the place of royal trumpeters in the estate of Schintau Castle. From the 14th century the village belonged to families like Rozgony , Pográny , Thurzo and Esterházy . In 1598 the place was devastated in the course of a battle between the Turks and the imperial army. In 1715 a total of 19 households lived in the village. The main sources of income for the inhabitants were agriculture and viticulture.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Zemianske Sady had 858 inhabitants, 839 of whom were Slovaks, three Magyars and three Russians, two Czechs and one Roma. Seven residents indicated a different ethnic group and three residents gave no information. 725 residents professed their support for the Roman Catholic Church, 14 residents for the Evangelical Church AB, three residents for the Greek Catholic Church, two residents for the Orthodox Church and one resident each for the Baha'itum, the Evangelical Methodist Church, the Reformed Church and the Czechoslovak Hussite Church Church; three residents professed a different denomination. 71 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 36 inhabitants has not been determined.
