Kráľová pri Senci (in Slovak between 1920 and 1960 "Kráľová"; German king silk , Hungarian Királyfa ) is a municipality in Bratislavský kraj in western Slovakia .

geography

The municipality is located in the Danube lowlands on both banks of the Čierna voda river . The city of Senec is 6 km to the northwest, while the capital Bratislava is 26 km to the west.

The two former village centers still form the districts of Kráľová and Krmeš.

history

The earliest written mention of the municipality of Krmeš was in 1245 as Kermesd , which was owned by the Pressburg chapter in the Middle Ages. The Kráľová part of the municipality was first mentioned in 1335 as villa Regia (royal village). It was so named because it was in royal possession and a hunting lodge is mentioned as early as 1421, which was a favorite place of both Sigismund of Luxembourg and Matthias Corvinus .

1712-15 an existing country palace was rebuilt here by Pálffys in the Baroque style, which included a French garden and English park. These were connected with a wooden, since 1904 a stone bridge over the Čierna voda. After the death of the last owner, the country castle slowly fell into disrepair until it was destroyed in the Second World War. Today only the chapel and the bridge remain. After 1863, the previously independent place Opátsky Krmeš (then in Hungarian Apácakörmösd ) was incorporated into Krmeš.

Both places in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 , after which they came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration , they belonged again to Hungary in 1938-45.

Today's municipality was created in its current form in 1943 through the incorporation of the municipality of Krmeš (German Groß-Körmöschd older Groß Kermescht , Hungarian Papkörmösd ) into the then only Kráľová or Hungarian Királyfa.

Today the municipality is known as the center of Slovak beekeeping . There is a beekeeping museum in the village in the area of the cultural and educational center of Slovak beekeepers.
