Veľký Biel (until 1948 Slovak "Maďarský Bél"; German Hungarian Biel , Hungarian Magyarbél ) is a municipality in western Slovakia.
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1209.
Malý Biel (German: German Biel ) , which was incorporated in 1960, belongs to the municipality .
Until 1918 the community belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . She came back to Hungary for a short time from 1938 to 1945 through the First Vienna Arbitration .
