Tureň (Slovak until 1948 "Zonctureň"; Hungarian Zonctorony , German Zontz ) is a municipality in Okres Senec within the Bratislavský kraj in Slovakia .
geography
Tureň is located in the Danube lowlands on the right bank of the Čierna voda ( black water ) and on a branch of the Little Danube . The city of Senec is 5 km to the north and the capital Bratislava is 25 km to the west.
In addition to the main town, the municipality also includes the district of Zonc (incorporated in 1943). The Slanica settlement is also located south of the municipality .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1252 as Chondol . The district of Zonc was also mentioned as Zwnch that year . Both were agricultural communities. Tureň belonged to the administration of the Bratislava chapters at that time, while Zonc belonged to the Pressburg Castle .
Until 1918 all places were in Pressburg County in the Kingdom of Hungary , after which it came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . Due to the First Vienna Arbitral Award , all places were again in Hungary from 1938-45. Under Hungarian rule, the two places Tureň (Hungarian until then Dunatorony ) and Zonc were combined into a double place in 1943 , the double name was shortened again in 1948, but the two places remained united.
