history
Archaeological finds in today's municipality are dated to the younger Stone Age. The first direct evidence of a settlement comes from the 7th century, and a burial site from the 8th and 9th centuries was also found.
The first written mention as Swr comes from the year 1245. At that time the community belonged to the local noble families and since the 15th century to the families Petheo , Csorba , Illesházy , Sági and finally Pálffy , who kept their influence until 1918. The population was engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry.
Until 1918 the community was in Pressburg County in the Kingdom of Hungary , after which it came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . Due to the First Vienna Arbitration , they were again in Hungary from 1938-45.
