Tomášov (until 1948 in Slovak "Fél", German Feilendorf , Hungarian Fél or older also Féll ) is a municipality in Bratislavský kraj near Bratislava in southwestern Slovakia .
geography
The place is located in the Danube lowlands in the western part of the Große Schüttinsel on the right bank of the Little Danube . It is 18 km from Bratislava and 12 km from Senec .
In addition to the main town, the municipality also has parts of the municipality Doma (north of the Little Danube) and Malý Madaras (east of the municipality).
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1240 as Feel and initially belonged to the estate of Pressburg Castle , then from the end of the 13th century to the local nobles. The agriculturally oriented community has belonged to the estate of the Counts of St. Georgen on the one hand and Eberhardt on the other since the 16th century . In the following centuries it often changed hands: the families Kerekes , Jeszenák , Apponyi , Strasser and others were more or less involved in the rule of Eberhardt, to which the place belonged, until 1945.
The place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . At this time colonists came to the municipality from the rest of Slovakia and Moravia (e.g. in the district of Doma). Due to the First Vienna Arbitration , the place belonged again to Hungary in 1938-45.
In 1948 the municipality was renamed Tomášov for national political reasons , the name was borrowed from the settlement Tamásháza (Slovakized Tomášov), which has been attested since the 15th century to the north of the main town . In 1921/22 Slovak and Moravian colonists were settled in this district.
