Zálesie (Slovak from 1936 to 1948 "Gessayov", until 1960 "Gešajov") is a municipality in Bratislavský kraj in southwestern Slovakia .

The place is located in the Danube lowlands on an island between the rivers Little Danube , Blatina and Biela voda, between the municipalities of Malinovo and Ivanka pri Dunaji . The capital Bratislava is 14 km to the west, while Senec is 16 km to the northwest.

In the Middle Ages, the area of today's municipality belonged to the rulership of St. Georgen and Bösing . In the 16th century it came to the estate of Eberhardt , which often changed hands until the 20th century. In the area of today's municipality, which was called Tőkés in Hungarian , a farm was built.

After the establishment of Czechoslovakia , the situation changed: the land that belonged to the Apponyi landowners was expropriated and parceled out, and Slovak colonists came mainly from the Kysuce and Terchová region , but also some from the area around Trnava , around this area to use agriculturally. The settlement was founded in 1923, was initially in the municipality of Eberhard and was named "Gessayov" after the founder Ignác Gessay. In 1936 it finally became independent, in 1948 the name, which sounded too Hungarian, was initially changed to Gešajov for reasons of national policy, and in 1960 it was finally renamed Zálesie (which means, for example, "located behind the forest").

Between 1976 and 1990 the community was incorporated into Ivanka pri Dunaji .
