Ibrahim Michael Ibrahim BS , also Ibrahim Ibrahim (born March 22, 1962 in Jinsnaya , Lebanon ) is the incumbent bishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Saint-Sauveur in Canada . He is the successor of Bishop Sleiman Hajjar , who died of sudden cardiac death .

Life

Ibrahim studied theology and graduated with a bachelor's degree in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . He then made, also in Rome, a master's degree in theology at the Pontifical Lateran University . He is fluent in English , French , Arabic , Italian and Greek . On July 18, 1987 in Sidon he was ordained a religious priest of the Melkite Basilians by the Most Holy Redeemer . Ibraham went to the United States and was pastor of the parish of Saint Elias in Cleveland , Ohio . In 1990 he was appointed archimandrite and protopresbyter for the western region of the Newton Eparchy under Archbishop Ignatius Ghattas . At the same time he was prior of the religious priests of the Basilians working in the USA and responsible for ecumenical matters.

On June 18, 2003, he was appointed Bishop of Saint-Sauveur de Montréal by the Synod of Bishops of the Melkite Church. At the age of 41 he was called the youngest bishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church. On August 17, 2003, the Patriarch of Antioch, Gregory III. Laham the ordination .
