François Abou Mokh

François Abou Mokh BS (born July 1, 1921 in Maalula , Syria ; † August 11, 2006 ) was Curia Bishop in the Melkite Patriarchate of Antioch in Syria.

Church career

Françoise Abou Mokh was ordained a priest on July 12, 1946 as a religious priest of the Melkite Basilians by the Most Holy Redeemer . From 1972 to 1978 he was accredited as procurator of the Melkite Patriarch of Antioch in Rome . At the same time he was appointed titular archbishop of Palmyra dei Greco-Melkiti , he was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Melkite Patriarchate of Antioch on February 7, 1978 .

The Patriarch of Antioch Archbishop Maximos V. Hakim and Archbishops Nicolas Hajj SDS and Saba Youakim BS donated him episcopal ordination on March 17, 1978 . In part-time he was Patriarchal Vicar of Damascus from 1978 to 1984 and again from 1992 to 1995 . On July 27, 1998, he resigned from his episcopal office due to old age and appointed Curia Bishop in the Patriarchate of Antioch since 1997. From 1997 to 1998 he was also protosyncellus for the Melkite Archdiocese of Damascus . Until his death on August 11, 2006, he worked as emeritus Curia Bishop in Antioch.
