history

The Archeparchy of Damascus was established in the 3rd century. It has been an immediate eparchy since 1838 and is directly assigned to the Patriarch of Antioch, Jerusalem and all of the East and Alexandria . The archparchy is administered by a patriarchal vicar with the rank of bishop and represented externally.
