Joel Mueller
Joel (Julius) Müller ( November 4, 1827 in Ostroh , Austrian Empire - November 6, 1895 in Berlin ) was an Austrian Hebraist and Talmudist .
Life
Müller studied law at the University of Vienna and became a rabbi in Ostroh in 1853, succeeding his father, and then in Leipa . From 1874 he worked as a religion teacher in Vienna , in 1882 he was appointed lecturer at the University for the Science of Judaism in Berlin. Among other things, he obtained individual editions of Gaonean responses . His editions in this area count as foundational works and have been reprinted frequently.
He was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Berlin-Weißensee . His daughter Amalie married the librarian Bernhard Münz in 1888 .
