Nicolas Hajj

Nicolas Hajj BS (born June 30, 1907 in Machgara , Lebanon , † January 12, 1995 ) was Melkite Greek-Catholic Archbishop of Banyas .

Nicolas Hajj was ordained a religious priest of the Melkite Basilians by the Most Holy Redeemer on April 1, 1934 . On July 30, 1965, he was appointed archbishop pro hac vice and auxiliary bishop in the Melkite Patriarchate of Antioch and titular archbishop of Damiata dei Greco-Melkiti . He was ordained bishop on September 9, 1965 by the Patriarch of Antioch Archbishop Maximos IV Sayegh SMSP . As co-consecrators the archbishops assisted Pierre Kamel Medawar SMSP and Néophytos Edelby BA .

On November 3, 1984, Nicolas Hajj was appointed Archbishop of Banyas in Lebanon. Due to age, he retired on September 18, 1985 and was senior archbishop of Banyas until his death on January 12, 1995 . From September 14 to December 8, 1965 he was a participant in the fourth session of the Second Vatican Council . Archbishop Hajj was co-consecrator to the Archbishops Saba Youakim BS, Denys Gaith BC , François Abou Mokh BS, Jean Mansour SMSP, Ignace Raad and André Haddad BS.
