Irena Wiszniewska-Białecka

Irena Wiszniewska-Białecka (born July 6, 1947 in Warsaw ; † May 23, 2018 ) was a Polish lawyer and judge at the Court of the European Union .

Wiszniewska-Białecka studied law at the University of Warsaw from 1965 to 1969 . Among other things, she worked as a lawyer and was a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences . In 1985/1986 she conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Patent , Copyright and Competition Law in Munich. In 2001 she became a judge at the Supreme Administrative Court of Poland ( Naczelny Sąd Administracyjny ).

On May 12, 2004 she was appointed judge at the “Court of First Instance” of the European Communities (since 2009 “Court of the European Union”). In 2010, her term of office was extended to August 31, 2016.
