Irene Becker (serial killer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Irene Becker (* 1952 in Berlin-Hermsdorf ) is a German serial killer who, as a nurse on a cardiology ward at the Charité, killed at least five people by administering drugs in 2005 and 2006 . In the media she was referred to as the “Angel of Death from the Charité”, “Sister Death” or “Death Splash”.

Becker had worked as a nurse in intensive care units for 35 years and was considered conscientious.

Their actions were exposed after a nurse found an empty vial in the clinic rubbish and notified clinic management of his suspicions about the abnormally high death rate on the ward.

Becker was on 29 June 2007 by the Berlin District Court for the murder of five accused of eight cases to life imprisonment sentenced. The court saw the murder criterion of the other base motives as fulfilled and was of the opinion that she had expressed her obsession with power through the acts.

On revision of the defense, the Federal Court of Justice changed the guilty verdict to triple murder and double manslaughter , which did not change the sentence.

A particular gravity of the guilt was not determined. The remainder of the sentence can therefore be suspended from 2021 after serving 15 years in accordance with Section 57a StGB .
