Judith Arlt , maiden name Büsser (born October 4, 1957 in Liestal , canton Basel-Landschaft ) is a Swiss writer, literary scholar and translator .

Life

Judith Büsser studied German and Slavic studies at the University of Basel and Freiburg University as well as Polish literature at the University of Warsaw . Then it was in 1995 in Friborg with the dissertation about the Polish writer and filmmaker Tadeusz Konwicki for a PhD doctor (Dr. phil.). From 1994 to 2007 she lived in Berlin. She has been using the family name Arlt since her marriage in 1998 . In 2007 she moved to Meldorf in Holstein .

She made her debut as Judith Büsser with the short story Wera R. , which was published in Basel in 1993 . The doctoral thesis on Tadeusz Konwicki was published as a monograph in 1997 . This was followed by other books about Tadeusz Konwicki, the first Swiss travel writer Lina Bögli, and the Fölmlis shoemaker family in Menznau . The novel The World Was Faster Than Words , which appeared in 2014, also refers to the life and work of Lina Bögli.

Judith Arlt was a member of the Olten group and has been a long-time member of Authors in Switzerland (AdS).
