Irene Yorck von Wartenburg

Irene Countess Yorck von Wartenburg (born March 4, 1913 at Gut Klein-Öls , district of Ohlau , Lower Silesia ; † October 14, 1950 in Berlin ), known as "Muto" in the family and friends' circle, was a doctor and member of the Kreisau district .

Life

She was the daughter of the landowner Heinrich Graf Yorck von Wartenburg (1861-1923), royal Prussian district administrator , hereditary member of the Prussian manor and Fideikommissherr on Klein-Öls, and Sophie Freiin von Berlichingen (1872-1945).

Her great-great-grandfather was Field Marshal Ludwig Graf Yorck von Wartenburg . Among her nine siblings is Count Peter Yorck von Wartenburg , who was involved in the preparation of the assassination attempt on July 20, 1944 and who was executed in 1944 .

Together with her brother Peter and his wife Marion , she became active in the Kreisau district in the resistance against the National Socialist regime.

Irene Countess Yorck von Wartenburg remained unmarried.
