Iriški Venac ( Cyrillic Иришки Венац ) is a mountain ridge in the east of the Fruška Gora , about 15 kilometers south of Novi Sad . The next town is Irig , which is another 7 kilometers south. At the highest point of the ridge (516 m) there is a television tower . There is a road over the mountain that connects Novi Sad with the Belgrade - Batrovci motorway ( European route 70 ). On the ridge height, where the connecting road crosses the mountain range, there is an information center and restaurants. Iriški Venac often refers to this place (451 m, 45 ° 9 ′ 0 ″ N , 19 ° 49 ′ 47 ″ E ), which is about 3 kilometers west of the highest point. In the immediate vicinity there is a war memorial in memory of the victims of the people's liberation struggle in Yugoslavia during the Second World War . This large monument was erected in 1951 by Sreten Stojanović .
Television tower
At the highest point of the Iriški Venac there is a television tower made of reinforced concrete . The tower was built in 1975. The total height of the tower is 170 meters, of which 20 meters are accounted for by the top antenna mast for the antenna for TV signals.
The tower was damaged in a NATO air raid in 1999 . The damage was estimated at $ 11.5 million . In 2008, the functionality was largely restored.
