Irina Mikhailovna Baldina
Irina Michailowna Baldina ( Russian Ири́на Миха́йловна Ба́лдина ; born May 18, 1922 in Moscow ; † January 15, 2009 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian painter . She lived and worked in Saint Petersburg and was a member of the local artists' association (1959-1991 "Leningrad Association of Soviet Artists"). She was considered a representative of the Leningrad School of Painting .
biography
Baldina was born in Moscow on May 18, 1922. From 1940 to 1941 she studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture . After the Second World War , Baldina was admitted to the Russian Academy of Art in Saint Petersburg in 1945 . There she studied as a student of Alexander Debler , Boris Fogel and Alexander Segal .
She married the painter Alexei Jerjomin (1919–1998) in 1947, and her daughter Natalja was born the following year. Natalja later also studied at the Russian Art Academy in Leningrad and became a painter.
In 1952 she left the Russian Art Academy. Her final thesis consisted of the design of the set and the costumes for the film The world should blossom by Oleksandr Dowschenko in a workshop by Mikhail Bobyshov .
Since 1951, Baldina regularly exhibited at Leningrad art exhibitions, along with leading artists from the Leningrad School of Painting. Her artistic style is portrait and landscape painting and still life . In 1957 she became a member of the Saint Petersburg Artists Association.
Between 1960 and 1980 the focus of her work was the nature and the people of the region around Lake Onega . During this time the paintings and sketches “The Road to Oyash” or “Summer House” (both 1954), “Junge Ebersche”, “Abend” (both 1956), “Glockenblume”, “Lilac” (both 1957), “ Natascha ”“ Girl on the Rock ”(both 1960),“ Girl ”(1961),“ Uzbekin ”,“ Nurse ”(both 1962),“ Tomorrow ”(1964),“ The postman Marya Petrovna Rodionova ”,“ Portrait of Alexander Baldin ”(both 1967),“ A Portrait of Dmitry Shostakovich ”(1971),“ The Young People ”(1975),“ A Portrait of the Artist Alexei Eriomin ”(1977),“ A Portrait of Spirova - the mother of the heroine of Stalingrad Natascha Kochuevskoy ”(1980), and others.
Her style was shaped by large formats, strong brushstrokes and a decorative effect that has intensified over the years. She skillfully used the technique of open-air painting and subtly combined a multitude of shades, moods and color relationships in Nordic nature.
Irina Mikhailovna Baldina died on January 15, 2009 in Saint Petersburg at the age of 87. Her paintings are in art museums or private collections in Russia, France, Finland, USA, Japan, Germany, England and in other countries.
