Alexei Grigoryevich Yeryomin

Alexei Grigoryevich Yeryomin ( Russian : Алексе́й Григо́рьевич Ерё́мин; born March 17, 1919 in Velikaya Guba on Lake Onega , North Karelia ; † June 11, 1998 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian - Soviet painter of realism . He lived and worked in Saint Petersburg (called Leningrad from 1924 to 1991) and had been a member of the local artists' association since 1951 . Yeryomin became known as a representative of the Leningrad School of Painting, because of his depictions of people and the nature of his native North Karelia. He painted genre and historical paintings , portraits , landscapes and sketches from life.

Life

Alexei Yeryomin came to Leningrad in 1930, where he attended the Leningrad Art School, which is part of the Russian Art Academy, from 1935 to 1939 . From 1939 he also exhibited at art exhibitions, but was then drafted into the Red Army at the beginning of World War II . As a tank gunner, he was wounded and decorated several times. After demobilization in 1945, Yeryomin attended courses at the Department of Painting, named after Ilya Repin , at the Leningrad Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture , where Boris Fogel , Semyon Abugov , Alexander Debler and Alexander Saizew taught him. In 1951 Alexei Yeryomin finished his studies. His thesis was the genre "Lenin on the hunt in Siberian exile".

His paintings can be found in the State Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg and the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery . Also in art museums and private collections in Russia, Japan , England , Finland and other countries.

In 1947 Alexei Jerjomin married the painter Irina Baldina . The following year they had their daughter Natalja, who also became a painter after attending the Russian Art Academy in Leningrad.
