Irina Ruppert

Irina Ruppert (* 1968 in Aktjubinsk , Kazakhstan ) is a photographer and lecturer for artistic documentary photography at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and the Berlin Technical Art Academy .

life and work

Irina Ruppert completed her diploma in 2002 at the HAW Hamburg in the field of design, with a focus on photography, under Ute Mahler . From 2003 she took photos for well-known magazines and newspapers, including Die Zeit , Du , Stern and Geo . Her work has received international awards and exhibited, among others in the Deichtorhallen Hamburg , at the photo festival in Arles and in the State Art Gallery in Russe . Ruppert has been a member of the independent photo agency laif since 2004.

Irina Ruppert became famous for her photo book Rodina , for which she photographed in Russia and Eastern Europe and which deals with biographical emigration. Her photographic work, Cortorar Gypsies, about Roma people who traditionally live in Romania and Ore. 7139 about seasonal workers in Rhineland-Palatinate received a great response. Works by Ruppert are represented in the Altenburg auction house, in the forum for photography, in the Kominek gallery in Berlin, in the collections of the ZF Art Foundation and the Photoszene Cologne.
