Georg Christian Schule (born October 7, 1764 in Copenhagen , † July 9, 1816 in Leipzig ) was a Danish draftsman and engraver.

Life

Schule was the son of the clothing manufacturer Joh. Christoph Schule and his wife Dorothea Elisabeth (née Wolf). He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Art and was a pupil and assistant to Johann Friderich Clemens in 1781/82 , in whose house he lived for four years. In 1782 he was awarded a second prize and has worked for Danish booksellers ever since. He came to Leipzig in September 1787 and worked primarily for the publishing book trade until his death. His etchings were mostly based on his own drawings. For the first volume by Clemens Brentanos Godwi he made illustrations based on templates by Johann Heinrich Ramberg . He initially lived in Nicolaistraße, "in the golden horn" and later permanently on the Brühl .

The copper engraver Albert Schule (1801–1875), who also worked in Leipzig, was his son.

His notebook from the years 1785-1790 with correspondent directory letter transcripts, short essays and a list of its printed edition of engravings came on the Leipzig city library in the University Library in Leipzig .
