Iris barbatula is a plant from the genus of the iris ( Iris ).

features

Iris barbatula grows tightly in clusters and has a small vegetation point. The roots are swollen, spindle-shaped, and bulbous. The leaves are linear, slightly curved, stiff and 9 to 19 centimeters × 2 to 5 millimeters during flowering and 30 × 1 centimeters in size during fruit ripening. There are two leaf veins on one side and one thickened leaf vein on the other. The base of the leaf is surrounded by brown fibers, the tip of the leaf is thinly pointed. The stems are simple and undeveloped or up to 4 inches long. The 3 spathe are green, lanceolate and two- to four-flowered. The longest is 2 to 6 inches long. The flowers are dark purple and 2 to 7 centimeters in diameter. The perigone tube is pale green, thin, and 3 to 10 centimeters tall. The hanging leaves are oblanceolate and 3 to 5.2 × 0.7 to 1.3 centimeters in size. The plate is spread out and has white stripes running outwards from a central, yellow, fringed vertex. The standards are spread out, occasionally veined with white at the base of the plate, 2.7 to 5 × 0.6 to 1 centimeters in size and narrow, oblanceolate. The stamens are about 2 centimeters in size, the anthers cream-colored. The style branches are 3 to 4 centimeters in size. The terminal lobes are erect. The capsule is ellipsoidal and 2 to 2.5 × approximately 1.2 centimeters in size. The seeds are pear-shaped and surrounded by an aril .

The species blooms from May to July and produces fruit in September.

Occurrence

Iris barbatula occurs in China ( Yunnan ). It grows on grass-covered plateaus at altitudes of 2400 to 3600 meters.
