In 2003 , 2004 and 2005 the Irish candidates were found through the casting show You're a star .

Qualification 2006

On November 14, 2005, Ireland was the first country to announce its participants in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest . The Irish television chose the singer Brian Kennedy of the country in May 2006 in Athens to represent.

On February 17, 2006, television viewers on the Late Late Show decided that Kennedy would sing the song, Every Song is a Cry for Love, composed by himself, in Athens. There were three titles to choose from.

Qualification 2007

For 2007 Irish television is repeating the previous year's concept. The folk group Dervish was nominated ; Until January 8, 2007 , authors could submit titles, from which a jury then selected the four songs that were presented on February 16, 2007 on the Late Late Show. The selection was then made by the television viewers via televoting and SMS .

It won the title They Can't Stop The Spring ahead of Until We Meet Again , Walk With Me and The Thought Of You .
