Irmtraud Richardson

Irmtraud Richardson (* 13. April 1945 in the valley ) is a German journalist who as a radio correspondent and television presenter operates.

Life

Richardson studied philology and later married an Englishman with whom she has three daughters, two of whom were born in Brussels. She has lived in Brussels since 1978 (with one exception from 1997 to 2004).

Since 1978 she has worked as a radio correspondent for several ARD stations (at that time mainly for SWR Baden-Baden) and reported from Brussels on the events in the then European Community and later European Union as well as on NATO .

In 1997 she moved to New York and reported, among other things, on the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

She has been living in Brussels again since 2005 and reports on events from Belgium for Bayerischer Rundfunk and from Brussels on the European Union . In addition, she was co-moderator of the BR citizenship program Jetzt red i - Europa and interviewed Bavarian European politicians about the problems raised by Bavarian citizens that affect Europe. Since January 2013 she is no longer present as a presenter in the hall, but moderates the live blog for the broadcast on the Internet, but continues to report there and on television from Brussels about the European Union and addresses the problems in the EU mentioned by viewers to the bottom.

Award

In October 1993, Irmtraud Richardson was awarded the European Medal of the Bavarian State Government by the then Bavarian Minister of State for Federal and European Affairs, Thomas Goppel , for her "special services to Europe" .
